Polishing the granite slabs
5) The slabs go to our polishing machine to have both sides polished for a typical polished 2 monument. We first have to polish one side of the slab which takes 1/2 a day, then we flip the slab over to polish the backside. We typically have the polishing bed full of slabs, slants and other various polishing jobs to keep machine busy. The slab polishing process involves the use of several different grits of diamond polishing bricks. We start with a low grit brick that grinds all of the the saw marks out of the slab and prepares the surface for the bricks to follow. The last set of bricks are extremely high grit that bring out the full color, depth and crystal structure of the stone.
Cutting the memorial to shape
7) Our stonecutter uses a hammer and special hand tools to cut the granite to shape. He often uses templates and chalk outlines as a guide to help him
create the needed shape.

Splitting the slab
6) We need to split the slabs into smaller memorials, we do this by using our hydraulic splitter. The splitter takes off the excess granite and gets the piece ready to be cut to shape by our stone cutter.
Laying out the memorial for sandblasting
8) Layout is comprised of us putting the stencil on
